ACT organised an informative seminar in Brussels focussing on their cross-platform and on-demand media strategies. These demonstrated how crucial these innovative services are as a new means of offering high quality TV content in response to evolving consumer demand.

Biographies

Ross Biggam, ACT Director General

 

Ross Biggam has been Director General of the Association of Commercial Television in Europe (ACT) since 2000. After studying law at Exeter and Saarbrücken, Ross worked as Legal Adviser to the House of Lords EU Select Committee before joining ITV, the leading commercial television channel in the UK, where he held the position as Head of European Affairs.

 

Arno Otto, Director Digital, RTL Nederland

 

Arno Otto is Managing Director Digital at RTL Nederland. His responsibility covers the wide range of the Digital Operation, Distribution and IT. With seven television channels and a top-four digital presence, RTL Nederland is the leading media & entertainment company in the Dutch market. With the takeover of the Videoland on demand service, RTL Nederland takes the lead in the Dutch VOD landscape.

Prior to joining RTL Otto was Commercial Director Europe for AdLINK Group, MD of VNU’s MediaNet and MD Benelux for DoubleClick, both in its early years. 

Arno studied business and economics, he is co-author of the book ‘Internet Advertising & Marketing’ (2000), and he was president of the IAB in its launching year. He is also co-investor in the Africa Media Venture Fund and board member of the Foundation Het Vergeten Kind (The Forgotten Child).

 

Rikard Steiber, CEO of MTGX and Viaplay

 

Rikard Steiber joined MTG in February 2013 as Executive Vice President and Chief Digital Officer. As of June 2013, he is the CEO of MTGx and Viaplay. Rikard is also the initiator of Women in Tech.
Prior to joining MTG he worked at Google for six years as Director of Product Marketing for Europe, the Middle East and Africa and subsequently Global Marketing Director for Google’s Mobile & Social Advertising Business. During his time at Google, Rikard oversaw the launch and ongoing marketing of products including Google+, Search, YouTube, Android, Chrome, Maps, Apps, Adwords and Analytics for mentioning a few.
Before joining Google, Rikard was CEO and co-founder of XLENT Strategy and Digiscope Consulting in Stockholm, and one of the co-founders of Scandinavia Online AB. He also had managerial positions at Telia and P&G.
Rikard is a graduate from SDA Bocconi, Italy and Chalmers University of Technology in Sweden.

 

Chiara Tosato, Commercial Director of Infinity, Mediaset

 

Chiara Tosato is Commercial Director of Infinity, S-VOD service of Mediaset. She was responsible for the roll-out and development of “Infinity”, which became the market leader by all dimensions: users, content choice, compatible devices, personalisation, value added services and brand awareness.

As of January 2009, Chiara has been a member of RTI, Mediaset’s New Media and Brand Extension. RTI operates in the multimedia sector through its Interactive Media Department. As part of its operations to promote extension content initiatives, it makes the services and content of its core business available on different platforms (internet, mobile web, cell phones and teletext).
In the past, Chiara was responsible for Mediaset Premium strategic planning and was in charge of the launch of “Premium Play”, Mediaset Premium catch-up TV service over IP.

Prior to joining Mediaset, Chiara was Senior Associate in the Communications, Media & Technology (CMT) Practice at Booz&Company working within the Italian and international media and telecom markets.

 

Heiko Zysk, Vice President Governmental Relations & Head of European Affairs, ProSiebenSat.1 Group

Heiko Zysk is Vice President Governmental Relations and Head of European Affairs of the ProSiebenSat.1 Group, and works mostly on policies regarding technology and convergence, emerging media and internet, and advertising.

He represents the ProSiebenSat.1 in national and international associations and fora as, for example, at ACT (Association of Commercial Television in Europe, as Member of the ACT’s Board of Directors), VPRT (Association of Commercial Broadcasters and Audiovisual Services) or IIC (International Institute of Communications).

 

Frances Robinson,  EU Correspondent, Wall Street Journal/ Dow Jones (moderator) 


Frances Robinson covers EU technology and telecoms regulation for Dow Jones and the Wall Street Journal, a role which involves everything from interviewing Prime Ministers to urban safaris in post-industrial Belgium. She previously worked for AFX in Brussels and then covered the European Central Bank for Bloomberg. Her beat includes Eurozone crisis, tech and telecoms, and the fascinatingly complex world of Belgian politics. Frances has appeared on Sky News, BBC News Channel, RTL, RTBF and Europe 1.
