Brussels, 15 January 2026. ACT is looking for an experienced public affairs practitioner to join our dynamic Brussels-based team as Director for intellectual property and competition policies. This is an excellent opportunity for a passionate policy professional to make a real impact on European copyright and competition law from the perspective of one of Europe’s most influential media trade associations.
The successful candidate will manage a policy officer, lead the association’s work on issues covering Intellectual property and competition, and report directly to the Director General, playing a key role in advancing ACT’s advocacy efforts and supporting our members across Europe.
Key responsibilities include
- Develop and lead ACT’s strategic approach and outreach on intellectual property and competition policy, including shaping the association’s positions and advocacy priorities in coordination with member companies
- Development and analyses of policy texts and positions
- Institutional relations & outreach with EU institutions (EP, EC, Council)
- Stakeholder coordination, working alongside partners and coalitions
- National association coordination, coordinating our work with national partners
- Representing the association externally in discussions and events
Required profile
- Five to ten years of experience in European public policy working in Brussels for a trade association, regional/national representation, law firm, consultancy or other relevant organisation
- Experience working with EU Intellectual Property and Competition legislation and relevant jurisprudence
- Academic background in law, political science, communications, media studies, European
studies, or related discipline
- Previous experience managing juniors
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, plus fluency in at least one additional EU language
- Comfortable speaking in public and representing the association in public forums, seminars, events
Desirable qualifications
- Knowledge of the media business environment and its interaction with policy
- Good team player and collaborative approach
- Ability to multi-task with a proactive, self-starting ‘can do’ attitude
