On 30 September 2026, ACT, in collaboration with the Live Content Coalition (LCC), organised an event at the European Parliament entitled “Live events under threat. How can the EU tackle Piracy?”.
Illegal offering of live broadcasts is increasing in Europe, damaging right holders and consumers alike. The EU legal framework is in urgent need for an update that allows broadcasters and other right holders to tackle piracy of live content with real-time enforcement, clear intermediary obligations and effective escalation when valid notices are ignored. However, this can only be achieved when all EU institutions team up and synchronise their agenda’s.
