In reaction to the articles appearing in the press on the alleged reopening of the definition of European Works, the ACT issued the following statement:

Changing the definition of European works is not on the political agenda. Most of Europe is still in the process of transposing the reviewed audiovisual media services directive (AVMSD) based on a definition of European works that emanates from the European Convention on Transfrontier Television. This definition includes UK works. It would be a terrible impediment for the broadcasting sector in Europe if this notion were challenged. Not to mention a breach of international agreements. Despite Brexit, the audiovisual community continues to work hand in hand across the channel. We should focus on building bridges, not burning them. We owe the next generation that much.
