ACT welcomes new Communications and EU Affairs Manager

BRUSSELS, 5 NOVEMBER 2018. The Association of Commercial Television in Europe (ACT) has announced that Algara Castle is to be its new Communications and EU Affairs Manager*, as the association increases its outreach at a vital moment for the sector.

Algara, who started her career in the German Bundestag in Berlin, has more than nine year experience in European Union policy-making. Working as a spokesperson in Brussels and Strasbourg she directed communications for the German SPD delegation in the European Parliament, dealing with topics ranging from data protection, to Internet policies and EU-Russia relations. She was awarded the Alfa Fellowship, a prestigious career development programme in Moscow for young professionals, and later joined a London-based consultancy company where she advised clients on EU legislation with a particular focus on Brexit and digital single market issues. Algara founded her own consultancy ACC – Algara Castle Communications.

Her predecessor, Masa Lampret, is returning to Slovenia. The Board of ACT thanked Masa for her dedication and for the exceptional contribution she made in representing and promoting the interests of commercial television, and wished her every success in her future endeavours.

Grégoire Polad, Director General of the Association, said:

“We are delighted Algara is reinforcing the ACT team. Her expertise and background make her the ideal advocate for commercial television at a time of major policy reform for Europe’s media sector.”
